Sarah Cowen, a native of Cyril, Oklahoma, has been dancing since the age of 2. Trained in all styles of dance, she danced competitively for 12 years.
Sarah began teaching at the age of 14 when she opened up her own small studio in her home town which she ran her freshman through senior years of high school. After that she taught many styles for recreational and competitive classes at Top Hat Talent and Encore dance centre in Oklahoma City. She won multiple choreography awards for her lyrical and contemporary group dances. She also coached high school dance teams throughout the Oklahoma City region where she taught technique classes and choreographed many routines for pep assemblies and state competitions.
Also, while living in Oklahoma Sarah was a member of the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder dance team for four years where she was selected as captain for two of those years. She was a core dancer in the Nick Cassavetes film “Yellow”, and the movie “Thunderstruck”. She has back up danced at the Rock for Oklahoma benefit concert, the Latin Billboard awards and for Stoney Larue.
Since she has moved to Orlando, she danced for the Orlando Magic for two years. Between dancing for the Thunder and Magic, Sarah was able to travel to perform in China, England, Turkey, the Bahamas and Brazil. She has been a featured dancer for marquee events for Halloween horror nights and Macy’s holiday parade and dances full time at Universal studios.
She loves to be able to share her passion for dance with children of all ages and loves to watch her students grow not only as dancers, but as individuals. She is very excited to be a part of the Edge family!
